A Child's First Visit

Most kids refer to their experience at HealthSource as going to “the fun doctor.” The lobby is colorful and bright. It is full of books, toys, and smiling faces. Kids can hang out and play with the toys while information forms are completed. After that, they'll meet the doctors and team members. Next, it’s off to chiropractic school!

Chiropractic School: While at chiropractic school, kids learn about how their nerve system controls and coordinates every part of their life and health. It controls the immune system, organs, and muscles. The nerve system controls how everything works together just like the conductor of a band. A healthy nerve system produces a healthy, happy, complete life. Throughout the visit, the doctor will answer any questions!

Exam: The exam is not like a test taken in school. If the doctor finds it necessary, he or she will take a picture of bones called an x-ray. All patients get to rest on an exam table while the doctor gently feels the spine for any subluxations. Next, patients stand on a posture machine to measure how their posture is relating to their health.

Talking With the Doctor: The doctor shares the posture test results and x-ray pictures with everyone and talks about what subluxations were found and how they might be affecting health. The doctor also talks about recommended adjustments. An adjustment is a light touch done while standing, sitting, or lying on a table. Adjustments do not hurt and often make people feel better immediately!
