At Life Empowerment
Institute, we not only work with patients who have injuries and health conditions, but with individuals who want to optimize
their health and prevent illness. Our body has an amazing ability to heal itself,
fight off infection and adapt to injury. However, as we continue to develop and
age, some adaptations can evolve and deteriorate our body and our health. Our
team of health care professionals are trained to help patients reach their optimal wellness through preventative treatments,
detoxification and education about proper nutrition, exercise, rest and well being.
We have a variety of learning opportunities in our EVENTS
section, and you can learn more about specific areas of wellness below.
What is Wellness? “Early Detection” vs. PREVENTION
Many medical practices, hospitals, and health insurance companies have jumped on the “Wellness” bandwagon
– promoting various “wellness” programs. But do these programs
actually prevent disease, or do they simply promote “early detection”?
Many wellness programs, such as Cancer Screenings, Chest Pain Centers, and most diagnostic tests performed in routine
physicals, are focused on early detection. The results of lab tests often tell
the physician if you already have a disease. Early detection is definitely better
than diagnosing disease in the advanced stages . . . but can we go a step further and PREVENT disease before it starts?
True “Wellness”
is geared toward maintaining and improving health to prevent disease. There are
many areas of your life that you can work on to improve your overall health. The
areas we hear about the most are nutrition and exercise, however, there are additional
factors affecting your health. Good health also depends on adequate rest, clean
air, good quality water, minimized stress, adequate sunshine, etc. At each visit
to Life Empowerment Institute, the doctors and staff work with you to help you optimize your health and wellness. We provide nutritional counseling, educational materials and opportunities to participate in classes and
health events.
