Recently, a progressive thinking HMO in Illinois investigated various approaches
to cutting costs, improving patient outcomes and increasing patient satisfaction rates; they quickly discovered chiropractors
as the perfect solution. The HMO study confirmed that chiropractors maintain extraordinarily
safe treatment records, treat patients successfully from infancy to adulthood, and continually receive the highest patient
satisfaction rate among licensed professionals. Chiropractors are also well-trained in referring appropriate
medical professionals whenever necessary. Armed with this knowledge, the Illinois HMO appointed chiropractors
as primary care physicians for a “test group” of families. They hypothesized that

The HMO found that after two years of utilizing
the primary care chiropractors, hospitalizations were reduced by 80%, out patient surgery was reduced by 85%, and prescription
drug use was reduced by 56%.
